Abby and Alex love the mountains, so spending their engagement session at Sawnee Mountain made a lot of sense.
Add golden-hour light and two people who were excited to be there together, and we had a pretty good evening on our hands.
Mountain views and plenty of joy
These two went all in for their session. Their excitement came through in the photos, and we loved getting to share this little adventure with them.
The views gave us a beautiful setting, but Abby and Alex gave us the reason to keep taking pictures. Getting to photograph people enjoying each other is one of our favorite parts of this job.
An evening in the mountains with your person is already a good plan. Having photos to remember this season of your life makes it even better.
From mountain engagement photos to a mountain wedding
Their love of the mountains also helped shape their wedding plans. Abby and Alex chose Vezalay Mountain Venue for their celebration, carrying that same connection to the outdoors into their wedding day.
And yes, there were cows at the venue. Obviously, we were excited about that detail.
We love when couples choose places because they mean something to them. For Abby and Alex, mountain scenery belonged in both parts of the story.
Choosing a location for your engagement session
If you’re deciding where to take your engagement photos, start with somewhere you’d enjoy spending time together.
That might be a mountain overlook, a favorite park, or somewhere closer to home. Tell us what you’re drawn to, and we can talk through a location and plan that fit.
For a mountain session, we’ll also discuss the walking involved, comfortable shoes, and timing so you know what to expect. You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose—we’ll help with that part.
